Choosing the Right Everyday Speech Curriculum Track for You

Did you know there are two different Everyday Speech curriculum tracks? We offer a Social Communication Curriculum and a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum.

Social Communication Curriculum (SCC)

Our Social Communication Curriculum (SCC) comes with your Complete Guided Therapy subscription. It’s great for working on social-emotional learning or communication skills with students 1:1 or in small groups or classes. The SCC is sometimes described as a Tier 3 system of support and is what we’re best known for! If you’re an existing customer, you’re using SCC.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum

Our Social-Emotional Learning curriculum track is brand new! It’s a full, standalone curriculum separate from SCC. SEL is different in that it’s meant to equip all students within a building with the social-emotional skills they need to thrive in life.

The Everyday Speech SEL curriculum encompasses skills like managing your emotions, decision-making, problem-solving, relationships with others, self-management, and more. Our 40-week curriculum has Early Elementary and Late Elementary tracks, and aligns directly to the CASEL competencies, the gold standard for SEL research and advocacy.

Differences between the two Everyday Speech curricula

A helpful way to think about SCC vs. SEL is to picture them as part of a pyramid. SEL forms the base of the pyramid because it’s meant for every student in a building, whereas SCC falls higher in the pyramid because it is used for targeted small group instruction or for intensive direct instruction.

Do you know which curriculum is right for you? Here’s a handy guide to help differentiate them:

SEL isn’t one-size-fits-all. Tell us about your school below and we’ll be in contact with you about a customized SEL program!
